About the Role:

 

Do you have experience of working in an IT role within an educational organisation? We are looking for a new Systems Manager at Gem-A to take responsibility for our digital platforms, including the learning management system used by our international network of students and tutors. You would also be the first point of contact with the external teams for the main Gem-A website and CRM database.

If you have experience of e-learning administration, as well as the other skills listed below, you could be the candidate we are looking for.

We are a small team, operating a hybrid working model, you would be expected to work in the office 3 days per week with up to 2 days a week remote. We are based near Hatton Garden in the City of London, with easy connections via bus, underground and mainline trains.

Responsibilities:

 

Education (Moodle)

  • Responsible for the overall operational and day-to-day management of Gem-A’s LMS (Moodle) platform to ensure the technical upkeep, user accessibility and ongoing development of resources.
  • Work with the Education team to project manage and lead activities related to Gem-A’s ODL programmes, for e.g., review and ongoing development of the ODL course content, design of assessments, translations, question banks, course schedules, etc.
  • Work closely with admissions officers and the student support officer to ensure the quality of student experience.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, management, support and development of the Gem-A ODL tutors. Where needed, work with the Tutor Coordinator to review availability and suitability of tutors for all Gem-A ODL programmes.
  • Provide technical support for Gem-A’s other online courses as needed. For example, those hosted outside of Moodle.
  • Provide technical support to relevant staff and students.

 

Website

  • Act as the point of contact for Gem-A with the external web development team on management of troubleshooting, new features, system changes.
  • Update content regularly for Publications and Education and support on development of improvements.
  • Handle ad-hoc content amendments and provide technical support to relevant staff.

 

CRM (OOMI)

  • Act as the point of contact with the external CRM provider to manage technical upkeep and also liaison between the CRM and website team.
  • Gain an understanding of OOMI to support on future developments and integrations.
  • Support with staff training and promote best practice use of the system.

 

Other

  • Support with other online systems as needed, such as online webinars and conference hosting.

Skills:

 

  • Strong IT skills with excellent technical knowledge of Moodle, WordPress, Microsoft office and graphics programs is desirable.
  • Team player with an understanding of and ability to work across different departments and with external partners.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to enthuse others and lead teams.

Experience:

 

  • Solid working knowledge of e-learning and Moodle administration.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress (desirable)
  • Experience of working within an educational institution.
  • Knowledge of CRMs, CMSs, and API integrations.

 

Standard office hours are Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. You may occasionally be required to work outside of these hours, for example to attend the annual Gem-A Conference, or to represent Gem-A at trade shows.

You will receive 20 days annual leave, rising with length of service up to 25 days, plus 8 bank holidays, enrolment into the company pension scheme, Associate Membership of Gem-A, time off in lieu for any weekend events attended.
