Gem-A, The Gemmological Association of Great Britain, is the world’s longest established provider of gem and jewellery education. Our prestigious Gemmology and Diamond Diplomas are globally recognised as qualifications of the highest status. Our Gemmology Diploma, taught in five languages and in 18 countries around the world, is the direct descendant of the gem course that was proposed for the UK jewellery trade in 1908. Today Gem-A forms an international community of gem professionals and enthusiasts. With our commitment to high educational standards, we serve the interests of the gem and jewellery industries and support gemmological research worldwide. In addition to our educational programmes we also provide membership, including the world-famous FGA and DGA Memberships. Members receive our two internationally distributed publications, Gems&Jewellery and The Journal of Gemmology. Our on-site shop, Gem-A Instruments, provides quality gemmological equipment for students and the trade.

 

Head of Gem-A USA

Earlier this year, Gem-A established Gem-A USA, an independent, non-profit entity with 501 (c)(3) status. We are now looking to appoint a self-motivated, experienced professional with the vision and drive to be the Head of Gem-A USA.

The Head of Gem-A USA will work with the Gem-A CEO and Gem-A UK and USA trustees to develop a strategic plan for this important market. They will be expected to establish new business opportunities, identify possible teaching centres, oversee and engage in fundraising activities and assess the need for Gem-A USA staff and possible location for Gem-A USA headquarters. Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The COO is a key member of Gem-A's Senior Management Team, collaborating with the CEO and the Board of Trustees, you will take the lead in the development of appropriate financial strategies to ensure financial stability and long term viability of Gem-A. You will take responsibility for the Association’s financial records, payroll and financial performance reporting. You will ensure an environment of tight financial control and delivery of the Association’s financial strategy, in alignment with the overall vision and strategy.
