The CGCI Teaching Centre is located in the Zuoying District of Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan. It is a very beautiful city with fantastic mountains and rivers.

CGCI has very good gemmological knowledge, marketing experience and a wealth of gemstones, mineral samples and equipment. The theory course has regular meetings and discussion time. Individual tutoring can also be conducted depending on the situation.

We organise outdoor geological surveys, gemstone management teaching activities and visits to international jewellery exhibitions to enhance students' horizons and experience. Most of our graduates have developed in the gem industry and gone on to be successful.

    In-house tutor

    Melinda Chen has more than 20 years of teaching experience in gemmology and 35 years of experience in jewellery trading. Melinda is the third generation of jewellery family business in South Taiwan and is especially interested in gemstones and minerals. In addition to teaching gemmological courses in the community, she also holds a PHD in Management and is an assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration at I-Shou University. This allows her to provide counselling to students in marketing and entrepreneurship.

    Alex Wu graduated from the Department of Jewellery at Meihe University in Pingtung City and is also an FGA having studied Gem-A’s Gemmology Diploma. He has an advanced metal craftsman license and Hong Kong JJD Jade identification certificate. With many years of teaching experience in metal crafts and jade course, he has worked as a gemmological lecturer and metal craft assistant at Pingtung Meihe University for many years. Alex is a very optimistic and patient person.

    The classroom is spacious and bright to accommodate more than 20 students. The surrounding parking is convenient, the classroom has a coffee machine and a gemstone testing practice area and there is a discussion room upstairs. Each student has a separate microscope, refractometer, polarizer that can be used.
