Address: The Master's House, College Rd, Maidstone ME15 6YQ, United Kingdom

If you want to study in the UK, outside of the jewellery hubs of London and Birmingham, Gemmology Rocks is for you.

Our centre is in Maidstone, the county town of Kent, often referred to as the Garden of England. We hold on-site classes in a beautiful modernised 14th Century building on the river. There are 3 train stations in the area operating regular train services in and out of London and other parts of Kent and the South East. We are close to major roadways and there are plenty of restaurants, hotels and things to do nearby. We are perfectly located for you to extend your time in the area and explore the county.

Outside of our Maidstone headquarters, Gemmology Rocks offers lab classes and one-day workshops around the UK, in Truro, Cardiff, Liverpool, Glasgow and York, giving wide access to most people in the country. Private lab classes and workshops are also offered for businesses on their own premises for a minimum of 3 students.

Classes held around the UK are held in secure, accessible, central locations, close to good transport links, with full facilities and amenities similar to those in our own centre.

Founder and lead tutor of Gemmology Rocks, Kerry Gregory lives in Maidstone with her family but is often travelling around the country delivering presentations, education and development in the trade. Kerry studied both her Gemmology and Diamond Diplomas by correspondence (this is an old method before there was internet!) whilst working full time and bringing up her then young son. Because of this, she understands the challenges to studying via distance education and is always working to improve the experience and success of others studying via this method. With twenty years of experience in the trade covering retail, jewellery, insurance valuation and replacement, manufacturing, stone dealing and pawnbroking, she has a wealth of knowledge and practical skills to pass on to students. Kerry regularly delivers presentations and workshops at conferences and trade events and is a frequent contributor to several trade publications including Gem-A’s own Gems&Jewellery, the NAJ Jeweller Magazine as well as Gemworld International’s Gem Guide.

  Guest Tutors

All guest tutors are different, but all have one thing in common; they share the ethos and values of Gemmology Rocks. Guest tutors are chosen to add value to courses and to the students. They are either amazing gemmologists or teachers (usually both!), or they are specialists in their field able to give something extra, an insight into a particular topic or area. They are never boring, they enthuse, inspire, and motivate.

  Classroom

Gemmology Rocks has a purpose designed teaching room for small classes, with an emphasis on personal tuition, as well as a larger classroom environment for bigger faster-paced classes. We have a full selection of modern gem testing equipment as well as a collection of older and historical instruments. A huge teaching collection of gemstones and minerals; crystals, rough, organics, rare and collector stones, fashioned materials of all types, synthetics, simulants and even some from outer space, you will be sure to handle and see all you need to succeed. Students are also able to refer to a comprehensive reference library.
