Cally is a Geologist, Gemmologist and Earth Science Educational Consultant. Former Chair of the Gem-A, she was Curator of Gemstones for the Natural History Museum, London; Education and Parliamentary Liaison Officer for the Geological Society; ran the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Earth and Environmental Science in the Palace of Westminster; Chair of the Earth Science Teachers’ Association; and was the School Curriculum Development Manager at the Association for Science Education. Cally has taught school pupils, school teachers, university undergraduates and graduates.
Cally has written more than 20 books and numerous articles on gemstones and crystals, and Earth science topics including volcanoes, earthquakes, oceans and seas, and has appeared on television and radio. Her latest books are ‘An Anthology of Our Extraordinary Earth’ and ‘Stones – A Material and Cultural History’. But, for gemmologist, Cally’s best known book is the Dorling Kindersley Handbook ‘Gemstones’ that she wrote under the name of Cally Hall. Recently revised and updated, it has been translated and used as a text book worldwide.

Who should attend?
This workshop is suitable for anyone of any level with an interest in gemmology and the gemstone world and will take place in one of our lecture rooms. Event will last ~ 2 hours.
