What have you been up to since completing your studies with Gem-A?

Since completing the diamond diploma with Gem-A I have gone on to study the Gemmology Foundation which I have just sat my exam for and now looking forward to expanding my knowledge further with the Diploma in Gemmology. I am aiming to become a member of the Institute of Registered Valuers. I work at the family business Christopher-Diggle Jewellers in Maghull.

How has your gem-a qualification helped you in your career so far?

Completing my Gem A course has allowed me to gain the qualifications needed to become a part of the Institute of Registered Valuers which has been a dream of mine for a long time now. Being Gem A trained is instantly recognised and respected, which has been invaluable for my independent family business.

What are the most important skills you have taken away from your gem-a studies?

To believe in myself and if I put my mind to something I can succeed. It has also given me so much confidence for when I am dealing with my clients, I can advise them on choosing the perfect diamond for them and how to care for them. It has taught me to sit back and properly observe, test and interpret results, not just in gemmology but across the all aspects of my job.

What would you say to anyone considering taking a gem-a course?

Do it, you will not regret it. You will gain so much knowledge and experience that you will carry on for the rest of our life, it’s a must for anyone who is looking to pursue gemmology in their career.
