About the Role:

Gem-A is a world-renowned professional membership and awarding body specialising in gemmology. Our qualifications are studied globally and our head office is in London’s historic diamond district, near Farringdon and Chancery Lane.

We are seeking an experienced Examinations Manager to be our Ofqual Designated Officer and oversee exam operations, including stakeholder engagement, operational efficiency and process improvements. You will manage 2 direct reports within a wider education team of 7.

Responsibilities:

· Designated Ofqual Responsible Officer, maintaining accreditation.

· Organising and managing the processes and procedures for examinations worldwide including special ad hoc exam sessions.

· Managing operational challenges and process improvements.

· Preparing and compiling all examination material, including quality control of proof exam papers.

· Liaising with the appropriate personnel in all locations to ensure that policies and procedures are implemented locally.

· Working with Student Support Officer to implement special exam requirements for candidates.

· Overseeing examinations invigilation.

· Examinations Officer for Gem-A, organising all examinations held in London including booking room and invigilators, taking materials, starting the exam and collecting exam papers.

· Packing and shipping exam materials and diamonds worldwide.

· Coordinating with examiners and language examiners regarding marking.

· Processing and checking assessments and exam marks.

· Moderating exam results – organising consistency check and arranging reviews of papers.

· Malpractice and maladministration and handling of exam complaints.

· Processing and issuing exam results and certificates to students, Accredited Teaching Centres (ATCs) and tutors.

· Overseeing and dealing with examination appeals procedure including exam clerical recheck.

· Invoicing and receiving resit payments.

· Organising prize winners and coordination of graduation ceremony in conjunction with Education Manager.

· Admin point of contact for FEEG exams, including liaising with FEEG and exam candidates and facilitating exams.

· Working closely with Chair of Examiners to resolve ad hoc examiner, gemmological and examination issues that arise.

· Statistics for Ofqual, pass rates for exam sessions and pass rates for each centre.

· Reviewing pass rates and taking appropriate action.

· Managing the financial planning for exam operations.

· Assisting COO with creation and management of the Education budget, together with the Education Manager.

· Line managing and supporting ODL Admissions Officer and ATC Liaison Manager.

Qualifications

· 3 strong A’ level passes or equivalent. (E)

· Maths and English passes at GSCE level or similar qualification. (E)

· Experience of using a CRM system. (E).

· Experience of management of translation of assessment materials into different languages. (D)
