Description:

Thinking of entering this year’s Photograph of the Year competition? If so book yourself on to Paul’s workshop for all the tips and tricks.

The workshop will cover:

  • Techniques for Photo microscopy to capture inclusions using a DSLR and mobile phone.
  • Techniques to photograph spectrums.
  • How to photograph interference figures through the polariscope
  • Photographing and videoing the shadow edges in the refractometer.
  • An opportunity for Q&A.

Paul Phillips is a member of Gem-A and has achieved both his FGA and DGA status. He also obtained a BSc in physics and geology with the open university, and went onto earn PJ.Dip, whilst working at JJ Rudell the Jewellers.

Paul is a very active member of the Gem-A Midlands Branch Committee for over 25 years, and was a past chairman for 6 years..

Paul developed a passion for photography 20 years ago and went onto combine photography and gemmology to photograph gemstones and inclusions.

Paul has worked in the aerospace industry as a welder for 40 years.
