Join the Gem-A North East Branch for a fascinating evening exploring 150 years of jewellery history with Jewellery Consultant John Mason FGA of Morphet’s of Harrogate Ltd.

Through an illustrated presentation, John will take us on a journey through the influences that have shaped jewellery over the past century and a half. Drawing on his extensive experience in the fine art and auction world, he will bring the story of jewellery to life through examples from different periods, highlighting the craftsmanship, design and changing tastes that have defined each era.

Whether you are a gemmologist, student, jewellery professional, collector or simply have an interest in jewellery and its history, this promises to be an informative and enjoyable evening.

I passed The City and Guilds fashion Jewellery and Diploma at Bradford Art College in 1972 and received my Gemmological Diploma from Basil Anderson at Goldsmith’s Liveried Hall in that same year.
From then until 2003, first worked in, then ran the family business David Mason and Son FGA in Harrogate and Bradford.
After 2003 I have been the jewellery consultant for Morphet’s of Harrogate Ltd fine art auctioneers and continue my gemmological studies whenever and wherever I can. I also grow prize winning dahlias.
