Through an illustrated presentation, John will take us on a journey through the influences that have shaped jewellery over the past century and a half. Drawing on his extensive experience in the fine art and auction world, he will bring the story of jewellery to life through examples from different periods, highlighting the craftsmanship, design and changing tastes that have defined each era.
Whether you are a gemmologist, student, jewellery professional, collector or simply have an interest in jewellery and its history, this promises to be an informative and enjoyable evening.

John Mason FGA is a jewellery and watch specialist with over 50 years’ experience in the trade, spanning both retail and auctioneering. A Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain since 1972, John currently works with Morphets of Harrogate, where he advises clients on the identification, buying and selling of jewellery and watches.
Throughout his career, John has developed extensive knowledge of jewellery from different periods, combining his gemmological expertise with a particular interest in the history, design and craftsmanship of individual pieces. His experience ranges from identifying overlooked treasures to advising on significant jewellery and watches offered at auction.
