1974 Elected member of the British Academy of Forensic Sciences as a gemmologist
– Elected to the Council of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain
1976 Formed Orwin Products Ltd, manufacturers and suppliers of fine gemmological equipment
2003 Wrote & Published ‘A Students Guide to Spectroscopy’ . Illustrations & artwork by Hilary Winter BA, FGA, DGA
2006 Awarded the R.K. Mitchell Award for ‘Excellence in Optical Spectroscopy’ by the Gemmological Association of Great Britain
2007 – 2023 Lectured extensively in Europe and the USA on Gemmology with particular emphasis on optical Spectroscopy 2023 Currently working on a new book entitled A students Guide to Gem Crystals.
