We offer a fantastic range of facilities for on-site learning at our London headquarters, located next to Hatton Garden, the heart of London’s gem and jewellery trade

Study Online

Gem-A Online Distance Learning (ODL) allows you to study Gem-A Gemmology and Diamond qualifications from home and in your own time

Study at an Accredited Teaching Centre

Gem-A Accredited Teaching Centres (ATCs) are institutions, colleges and schools that have been approved to teach Gem-A courses

After completing the Gemmology Foundation your knowledge and skills allow you to go directly into the trade buying, selling or auctioning, but this is just the start of your journey with Gem-A.
 
To gain real professional standing continue your learning by completing the Gemmology Diploma and applying for membership of Gem-A entitling you to use the post nominals FGA – the globally recognised mark of knowledge, excellence and integrity in the trade.

Qualification

Gem-A Level 4 Certificate in Gemmology

Eligibility criteria

Non-native English speakers must have an English qualification, e.g. Academic IELTS (Level 7) or TOEFL (score of 95-120)

Who can apply?

Everyone from complete beginners, amateur gem collectors and jewellery sales professionals, to jewellery designers and business leaders wishing to expand their knowledge.

Course materials provided

Fully illustrated Foundation course notes; practical workbook; portable instrument kit containing essential tools; and a stone set containing 20 rough and cut study specimens.

Membership of Gem-A

This is included for all students for the duration of their course and enables you to benefit from extra resources and publications.
