Gem-A North West Branch - - Kay Oakes

CHAIR

Kay Oakes MJVA Cert GA P.J.Dip, P.J.ManDip

Assistant Manager, Miltons Pawnbrokers & Jewellers

My jewellery career began at the age of 18 as a pawnbroker and now, I am a qualified registered Jewellery Valuer with the Jewellery Valuers Association (JVA). When I started as a pawnbroker, I fell in love the with the industry straight away and found an enthusiasm for Gemmology.

I’ve completed workshops at Gem A along with the Gembasics course and, my Gemmology Foundation. I’ve also completed my GIA Pearls and a 5 day diamond grading workshop with GIA. I am currently studying my Diploma with a view to gaining FGA.

I am passionate about learning and I can’t wait to bring the opportunity for enthusiasts and Gemmologists in the North West to learn more about the industry and, to connect with each other. My ultimate goal for the branch is to enable courses to be taught here in the North West. Watch this space.
